What is your Gauge Telling you? This is for Newer Testers!
We get a lot of questions from other backflow testers and we are here to help. It’s not unusual for a tester to call and share there leaky relief valve story with us. The tester will tell us about this scenario or that issue, and What they have taken apart and cleaned or replaced.
Our first question is, “What are your gauges telling you? What does the number 1 Check read, Above 5.0PSI?
What is the Second Check reading, above the Relief Valve Opening Point?
What is the Relief Valve Opening Point, Above 2.0?
The Gauges will let you know what is going on. We as Testers do not need to guess?
If the first Check is holding above 5.0 PSI the problem is either the Second Check Valve with Back Pressure or the relief Valve.
If the First Check is holding tight above 5.0 PSI and the Second Check is holding tight above the relief valve opening point, then the problem is the relief valve.
